future
A look ahead
- Even though artificial intelligence has yet to establish itself in the production practice of CAD-data visualization, it is a field I find deeply compelling. At present I use AI mainly for scaling and adaptation, with the aim of making my own production processes more efficient.
- Augmented reality will soon be indispensable in areas such as production, maintenance and training. I am actively building expertise here in order to offer corresponding solutions in the near term.
- Scanning electron microscopy has fascinated me since my early days in 3D. Recent years have brought remarkable interfaces to 3D, with researchers developing functional pipelines that open up new perspectives on the medium.
- Themes like IoT, rapid prototyping and robotics have increasingly reached me through my professional practice — and left a lasting mark. Not least, they have rekindled my earlier fascination with prosthetics.

Tools and setups
My current setup is built on Cinema 4D with Octane Render, which lets me work productively. That said, my focus is shifting increasingly to Blender — the migration of my workflows is already underway. Here too I favour Octane, while valuing the creative possibilities that Cycles and EEVEE offer along the way.
For motion graphics and VFX I use Adobe After Effects, reaching for Blackmagic Fusion when needed. For editing, Adobe Premiere is my tool of choice.
past
A professional path
For the past two years I worked as Head of 3D, focused on both classic and forward-looking themes. My remit spanned trade-fair media, 3D animation, VFX, data preparation and the development of efficient pipelines and workflows — alongside a focus on integrating new technologies such as WebGL, WebAR, virtual reality and SBC-based IoT solutions.
Before that, I spent seven years as Senior Motion Designer and Lead 3D Artist on large-format, long-term projects — a period in which I gathered valuable experience in the conception, design and execution of complex visualizations.
And before that lie over 20 years of professional stations that shape my interdisciplinary background: from mechanical engineering student to co-founder of C.A.I.-Systeme GmbH, on to a design degree, followed by roles as research associate, lecturer and co-founder of maroon GbR — through to my present work as a freelance 3D and motion designer.
